Have you thought about net lease investing?
Net lease real estate is one of the fastest growing alternative investment vehicles for wealthy investors. Essentially, the investor purchases a property that has a investment grade tenant, such as Walgreens or CVS.

The investor ends up with a credit tenant that has usually signed a 10+ year lease (sometimes there are rent increases) with a steady cash flow. The tenant takes care of taxes and insurance. However, absolute net lease properties require no landlord responsibilities because the tenant is not only responsible for taxes and insurance, but the roof and structure as well, hence the term bond lease.
